Ankle to knee high at Mid Steyne

Up and riding

Hello Friends,

12-17 kts of southerly wind under grey skies as Wednesday kicked off. Out at sea there was a 1.5 metre mixture of NNE and SE wind bump (average period was around 7 seconds). Tide was running into a swampy 1.65 m high at 1030. Ocean’s on 19C and we’re headed to a high of 25C along the coast. Dee Why was unsurfably tiny.

When can we expect things to improve I hear you ask? Well, not today, but maybe tomorrow it’ll get back into the just rideable range as a little NE pulse fills in. The models are showing a little over a metre at 10-11 seconds from the east for Thursday. Wind outlook is for SW going W across the day, so there is some fun potential in the cards I’d say. Friday could also be a possibility as a south pulse is expected to mix in with the fading east from Thursday. Again, nothing extraordinary, but if you’re not too picky, there should be something.

Will try to post a picture of today’s ordinariness later this morning.

Have a great day!

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge lies over northern New South Wales coast while a trough of low pressure is lying across southeast. The ridge is directing north to northeasterly winds over the northern half while the trough slowly extends a southerly change to the remainder of the Coastal Waters. Winds throughout will tend northerly again by tonight ahead of the next cold front on Thursday, strengthening and turning more westerly with the front. Winds will weaken during Friday as a new ridge develops across the north.
