Patchy Mix releases first statement after UFC 316 loss to Mario Bautista: ‘I will come back stronger’
Patchy Mix is taking his first UFC loss in stride.
The former Bellator bantamweight champion made his highly-anticipated octagon debut at UFC 316 on Saturday night and dropped a unanimous decision to Mario Bautista in the main card bout.
It was a tough night for Mix who was dominated from start to finish. Following the loss, Mix posted to Facebook giving his first reaction to the performance.
“Tough night for me in the office,” Mix wrote. “But I appreciate the people that have supported and been along for the ride. Would have liked to do more and made adjustments. I will come back stronger from this moment.”
Mix suffered just his second loss in 22 pro fights, and the first in nearly five years. Prior to his UFC signing, Mix won eight straight — including stoppage wins over Sergio Pettis, Raufeon Stots, Magomed Magomedov, James Gallagher, and Albert Morales. The 31-year-old also holds a win over Kyoji Horiguchi during his impressive win streak.
Coincidentally, Bautista extended his current win streak to eight straight victories. Prior to his win over Mix, The MMA Lab standout picked up a controversial decision win over former UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo at UFC 307 this past October.
