OWEN FARRELL has been ruled out of the Six Nations, England boss Eddie Jones has confirmed.

The Red Rose’s campaign is set to get underway in just ten days when they face Scotland at Murrayfield on February 5.

But they will have to do so without their captain Farrell, after he suffered an injury setback.

Farrell, 30, sustained an ankle injury in the Autumn international against Australia last year.

And after suffering a fresh training ground injury with Saracens he will miss his side’s Six Nations campaign.

Courtney Lawes is expected to take the armband in his place.

Farrell had been set to make his return for Saracens against London Irish this weekend.

But he is now set to be out for the foreseeable future.

On the injury news, Jones said: “Massive blow for him personally, but it’s a chance for people to step up.”

Elliot Daly and George Ford were called into the squad yesterday after injuries to Farrell and Jonny May.

While Nick Isiekwe joined as cover for Lawes after he suffered a head injury.

Joe Marler, meanwhile, is sidelined after testing positive for Covid-19.
