Johnny Eblen disappointed by Bellator 272 TKO because he didn't send opponent 'to the metaverse'

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – A first-round finish in just over a minute wasn’t good enough for Johnny Eblen.

Eblen overwhelmed Collin Huckbody on Friday night at Bellator 272, winning by TKO just 1:11 into their middleweight fight. It ended with Huckbody standing against the fence and covering up as Eblen rained punches on him.

The result pushed Eblen’s undefeated record to 10-0 (6-0 in Bellator), but the problem is that the referee stepped in quickly, and most of Eblen’s punches were blocked. Eblen’s disappointment was evident in his immediate reaction in the cage as he was hoping to do some serious damage.

“Honestly, I’m a little bit disappointed,” Eblen told reporters, including MMA Junkie, backstage at Mohegan Sun Arena. “It didn’t go the way I wanted it to go. I wanted to land some bigger shots, put on a little bit longer of a show. If it ends that quick, I want it to end like my Daniel Madrid knockout or something like that. I did land some heavy shot but not ideal for me.”

When asked if his disappointment stemmed from the TKO lacking brutality, the American Top Team product was specific about what he was going for.

“Where I literally send somebody to the metaverse,” Eblen saod. “I’m trying to send people to the metaverse instead of the shadow realm. I think the shadow realm is getting kind of clogged up. So, switch to the metaverse, I’m trying to send motherf*ckers there.”

Maybe next time.
