Jacob Bohn on long-awaited Bellator 272 debut: 'Over time, the good guys finally get their shots'

Jacob Bohn has been patiently waiting his turn to fight on the big stage. The opportunity finally comes around at Bellator 272.

Bohn (9-7 MMA, 0-0 BMMA), a more than seven-year veteran of MMA, will make his promotional debut at the Dec. 3 event at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., where he takes on Justin Montalvo (3-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) in a lightweight bout. The fight is part of the prelims, which stream on MMA Junkie prior to the main card on Showtime.

It’s been an up-and-down journey for Bohn. His resume includes matchups against UFC veterans such as Joe Solecki, Shane Burgos and Pat Sabatini, but all those names fall in the category of his losses.

Bohn, 32, has taken the important lessons away, though, and maintained a positive attitude. He’s now riding back-to-back victories with both coming by stoppage. After years on the regional scene, he now feels prepared to make the leap to arguably the No. 2 organization in the sport.

“Over time, the good guys finally get their shots,” Bohn told MMA Junkie. “I’ve just been grinding and killing it. … I didn’t want to go here unless I was ready. I’ve been training so long, and it’s time. I feel good, I feel strong and everything is coming together. It’s just clicking. It’s the right time. The timing is good.”

Bohn confirmed he enters Bellator 272 on a one-fight contract with the organization, as he was booked on short notice. He intends to deliver a performance that shows he’s worthy of a multifight contract on the back end of his career, and said he thinks Montalvo is a good matchup for him to impress.
