Man Utd next manager – Zinedine Zidane favourite as bookies suspend odds on Solskjaer sacking after Liverpool defeat

0 8

ZINEDINE ZIDANE is the new favourite to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United manager.

That’s according to bookmakers Sky Bet, who’ve significantly shortened the Frenchman’s odds after Sunday’s annihilation.

Mohamed Salah claimed a hat-trick as Liverpool cruelly exposed United’s glaring deficiencies and secured a stunning 5-0 victory at Old Trafford.

The comprehensive and embarrassing defeat leaves the Red Devils in seventh position – eight points behind leaders Chelsea.

United have now lost three of their last four Premier League outings against Aston Villa, Leicester and Liverpool.

They’ve also conceded a whopping 15 goals in their last seven fixtures in all competitions and failed to keep a clean sheet since August.

Bookmakers briefly suspended odds on Solskjaer being given his marching orders last night and “OleOut” once again trended on Twitter.

He’s priced at 1/4 to be the next top-flight manager relieved of his duties.

And if United chiefs decide to pull the trigger – Zidane is the frontrunner at odds of 3/1.

Zidane remains a free agent having left Real Madrid after a successful and trophy-laden few years at the Bernabeu.

The 49-year-old became the first coach to win the Champions League three times consecutively and notched up two La Liga titles.

Brendan Rodgers and Antonio Conte are next in the betting market at 7/2 and 9/2 respectively with Mauricio Pochettino drifting out to 10/1.

There’s a big jump to the remaining candidates with Ajax’s highly-rated boss Erik ten Hag offered at 16/1.

Julian Nagelsmann and Julen Lopetegui are locked together at 20/1 with England manager Gareth Southgate priced at 25s.
