The 60-year-old took charge of his 1000th game in management against Tottenham on Sunday.

It ended in defeat as Spurs recovered from Callum Wilson’s early strike to win 3-2 at St James’ Park.

The loss leaves winless Newcastle in 19th position with three points from their opening eight fixtures.

New non-executive chair Yasir Al-Rumayyan and part-owner Amanda Staveley were in attendance.

And heard chants of ‘We want Brucey out’ and ‘getting sacked in the morning’ from some sections of the sell-out crowd.

Bruce vowed to continue fighting in his post-match interview, but the club’s new owners may have different ideas.

Asked if he will remain in the job, Bruce said: “That is for other people to decide.

“Ever since I have walked into this club, it is difficult. I knew how difficult it was going to be with the frustrations.

“I will carry on as best I can until I hear otherwise. The owners have conducted themselves respectfully since they came in. As long as I don’t hear otherwise, I will go into work tomorrow.”

Manchester United manager Old Gunnar Solskjaer is now second in the betting market after a massive shift in odds.

The Norwegian was previously available at 18/1 but is now offered at 7s after their defeat to Leicester.

The Foxes won 4-2 at the King Power Stadium to end United’s English league record 29-game unbeaten run away from home.

The Red Devils have now dropped to fifth, five points behind leaders Chelsea after three top-flight outings without a win.

Claudio Ranieri, who started his tenure with a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool, is next at 10/1.

Daniel Farke and Nuno Espirito Santo are both priced at 14/1 with Brendan Rodgers, Bruno Lage and Mikel Arteta sharing odds of 20/1.
