Video: Josh Smith feels CES 64 title defense over Jay Perrin should punch his UFC ticket

0 3

CES bantamweight champion Josh Smith feels he is a win away from getting that elusive call to compete on the big stage.

Smith will defend his title for the first time on Friday night against Dana White’s Contender Series veteran Jay Perrin at CES 64. The event takes place at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford and streams exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.

“That Guy” captured the title in April with a second-round submission win over another past Contender Series competitor in Denis Paiva at CES 62.

MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck visited American Top Team this past weekend and spoke with Smith to discuss the matchup, being the CES champion defending against fellow New England promotion Cage Titans 135-pound titleholder, him preparing for the matchup with Marlon Moraes while Perrin trained with Merab Dvalishvili before the UFC bantamweights meet at UFC 266 next Saturday, believing his second straight win over Contender Series competitors should punch his ticket to the next level, and more.
