Jairzinho Rozenstruik has lost fights before, but his most recent outing has left a particularly bitter taste in his mouth.

“Bigi Boy” dropped a clear-cut unanimous decision to Ciryl Gane in the heavyweight main event of UFC Vegas 20 on Saturday, failing to win a round on any of the judges’ scorecards and rarely threatening Gane during their five-round contest.

Later in the evening, the Surinamese standout released a statement via Twitter in which he described his performance against Gane as a career-worst.

“Fans, family, and friends, I just fought and the fight didn’t go my way,” Rozenstruik said. “I think it’s my worst performance ever if you ask me... So this is me explaining myself, I think I owe you guys this.

“I’m gonna go back home and work my ass out for my next fight. Don’t know when that’s gonna be. Respect to Ciryl, he win the fight, and he’s a professional fighter. This is what I can say.”

Rozenstruik has now lost two of his last three fights after a 10-0 start to his pro MMA career. He kicked off his UFC run with four KO/TKO wins including finishes of former world champions Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski. In his fifth UFC fight, he was knocked out in just 20 seconds by Francis Ngannou, but he rebounded with a second-round TKO of Junior dos Santos.

Along with his MMA career, Rozenstruik has also competed extensively in kickboxing across Asia and Europe.
