A light heavyweight matchup between Contender Series alums is targeted for February.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Alonzo Menifield and William Knight is targeted to take place at the UFC’s event on Feb. 27. As of now, a location has not been revealed for the fight card.

MMA Junkie was first to report the booking.

After picking up consecutive first-round finishes of Vinicius Moreira and Paul Craig to begin his UFC tenure, Menifield looks to bounce back from the first losing skid of his career. The 33-year-old is winless in 2020 after dropping a unanimous decision to Devin Clark at UFC 250 and then suffering the first knockout loss of his career to Ovince Saint Preux in September. Menifield earned his UFC shot after an eight-second TKO win during the 2018 season of DWCS.

Knight earned a developmental deal during the 2019 Contender Series season and parlayed that into a full on 205-pound division roster spot with a first-round TKO win over Cody Brundage in September. “Knightmare” made his UFC debut 25 days later and earned a unanimous decision win over Aleksa Camur at UFC 253.

The UFC’s Feb. 27 event is headlined by two-time title challenger Dominick Reyes and former RIZIN champ Jiri Prochazka.
