Report: Raiders place Trent Brown on COVID-19 reserve list

Raiders right tackle Trent Brown, who went wire-to-wire against Kansas City after missing all but three plays of the first four games of the season, was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list Wednesday.

The Raiders are coming off a bye week, where players were required to take coronavirus tests each day but were for the most part left on their own. They began preparations in earnest to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers without Brown on the field.

Brown will likely miss the Tampa Bay game unless the test is deemed a false positive.

The transaction involving Brown was first reported by the NFL Network.

Brown’s placement on the list does not necessarily mean he has tested positive. The list is for players who have tested positive or have been in close contact with someone who’s tested positive.

Brown missed most almost the entire training camp with an undisclosed injury, which showed up as a calf injury in the days leading up to the opener against Carolina. Brown lasted only three plays and then missed the next four games before being healthy enough to play against Kansas City.

Veteran Sam Young replaced Brown against the Panthers and went out with a groin injury, with swing guard Denzelle Good taking over at right tackle. Good started against New Orleans and New England, with Young taking over against Buffalo.

Also on the COVID-19 list for the Raiders is cornerback Damon Arnette, who is currently on injured reserve following thumb surgery. Maurice Hurst missed the Chiefs game on the COVID-19 reserve list and is back at practice this week and available to face Tampa Bay Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.

More to come . . .
