Raiders promote McClymonds, UNLV product Javin White for Saints game

Javin White, the Raiders’ rookie linebacker who grew up in Oakland and played in college at Nevada-Las Vegas, was activated to the team’s 53-man roster for Monday night’s first game at Allegiant Stadium against the New Orleans Saints.

White, 6-foot-2 and 211 pounds, caught the attention of coach Jon Gruden early in training camp, but did not survive the final cutdown after Raekwon McMillan was acquired by trade from the Miami Dolphins.

Linebackers currently on the roster include Cory Littleton, Nick Kwiatkoski, Nicholas Morrow, McMillan and Kyle Wilber. Kwiatkoski is listed as doubtful to face the Saints after playing 22 snaps before injuring a pectoral muscle in a Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers.

White was activated without a corresponding roster move. As part of the new collective bargaining agreement, one practice squad player can be activated on game day. If no move is made, White will revert to the practice squad on Tuesday.

The Raiders will still have 48 players dress for New Orleans, with six players declared inactive before the game.
