Jon Gruden and the Oakland Raiders (3-2) look to hand the Packers (5-1) a loss at Lambeau Field Sunday afternoon. Green Bay leads the all-time series 8-5 including the last seven games. The Raiders last win came back in 1987 when they shut out the Packers 20-0 at Lambeau Field. Green Bay narrowly escaped a Monday night contest against the Lions and look to make it back-to-back wins on their home turf.

Oakland is coming off of a bye week and a two-game win streak, which includes a dramatic 24-21 victory in London versus former Raiders Pro Bowler Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears. Derek Carr threw for 229 yards but was unable to find the endzone, while rookie running back Josh Jacobs had a career high 123 yards rushing and tied a career best with two touchdowns. Will that week off help the offense improve and be ready for a Packers defense that played on Monday night? No wide receiver picked up more than 50 yards against Chicago. Number one wideout Tyrell Williams missed practice Monday and will definitely be needed against a very good Packers team.

The Raiders’ defense is in the middle to bottom of the pack in most statistical categories. If they do have one strength it is in their rush defense which ranks tenth and is giving up an average of 92 yards per game to opponents. Against the Bears, the unit compiled four sacks and two interceptions. Aaron Rodgers is a Hall of Fame quarterback and running backs Jamaal Williams and Aaron Jones have had success in 2019. Look for them to test this defense early in the passing game and be both fast and physical in the run game.

Controversial calls? Home field advantage? Whatever you want to call it, the Packers squeaked out a home victory on Monday night against the Lions. Mason Crosby hit a game-winning 23-yard field goal as time expired to give the team a 23-22 victory. Aaron Rodgers threw for 283 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Running back Aaron Jones had 107 yards and four touchdowns in their Week 5 win against the Cowboys, this time it was Jamaal Williams pounding the rock. Williams carried the ball 14 times for 104 yards. Allen Lazard led all receivers with 65 yards and one touchdown. Lazard, who was initially cut by the team back in August, stepped up in the absence of Davante Adams, who was out for the second straight game.

While the offense piled up nearly 450 yards, the defense held Detroit to under 300 yards (299) and just 55 yards rushing. In addition, they also recorded three sacks of quarterback Matthew Stafford. One and a half of those were credited to Preston Smith, who also had four tackles and ranks third in the NFL with seven sacks. Blake Martinez picked up five tackles to bring his total to 60 (fourth best in the league). Za’Darius Smith rounded out the impressive performances on that side of the ball with five tackles and one sack. The key to Sunday’s game will be in their ability to stop the run by containing Raiders’ running back Josh Jacobs.
