The Rams made a huge splash in the trade market this week in an attempt to turn things around. LA acquired star defensive back Jalen Ramsey from the Jacksonville Jaguars early this week. This was clearly a move to improve the defense of a 3-3 team who haven’t gotten off to the start many had anticipated. After losing in the Super Bowl last year, it’s been a very mediocre start for the defending NFC champions. It hasn’t been just the defensive side of the ball struggling as starting quarterback Jared Goff has also performed worse than expected, leaving an increasing number of fans calling for him to be benched. Going to Atlanta won’t be easy, but the Rams couldn’t have asked for a much more favorable opponent to get back in the win column.
That’s because the Falcons have been absolutely dreadful this season. It’s a bit of a mystery how they sit 1-5 as one of the league’s worst teams so far. Their offense is stacked with playmakers, including one of the best receivers in the game. The defense has struggled mightily, which is concerning considering that Dan Quinn is known as a defensive-minded coach. Atlanta has yet to hold an opponent to less than 20 points in six games this season. Even if the offense has a great day, they still have to worry about the defense giving up a bucket load of points. That’s not good for anyone’s confidence. If they don’t pull off the win at home in this one, it could turn into a lost season in a hurry.
