Pogba was photographed during his rehabilitation from injury in Dubai talking to Zidane by a hotel pool.

Zidane has made no secret of his admiration for Pogba while the player himself has said he wants a new challenge.

But Solskjaer said: “It is a picture and when you are at Man United you get pictures taken of you but I don’t have a problem with that at all.

“Paul wants to stay here and play well and is part of our plan going forward.”

Solskjaer also praised Pogba for playing through the pain of an ankle injury against Rochdale and Arsenal.

He said: “He gets criticised but he came back for the Rochdale and Arsenal when he could not have played.

“He’s been playing through the pain barrier because he wants to play. Now he is recovering he is mending.”

Pogba could yet make the Liverpool game on Sunday if he can get through a late fitness test although it is looking unlikely.

David De Gea too is struggling with a groin injury picked up on international duty.
