UFC on ESPN 6 weigh-in results: Deron Winn, Manny Bermudez come in heavy

Deron Winn | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Deron Winn and Manny Bermudez lost their battles with the scale on Thursday.

The two fighters failed to make weight for their respective bouts at UFC on ESPN 6, with Winn coming in 2.5 pounds over the middleweight limit and Bermudez two pounds over the featherweight limit.

Winn’s bout with Darren Stewart and Bermudez’s bout with Charles Rosa will proceed as catchweight affairs, with Winn and Bermudez both forfeiting 20 percent of their show money, MMA Fighting’s Jose Youngs confirmed with UFC officials.

This is the third time in a row that Bermudez has struggled to make his contracted weight. In February, Bermudez weighed in at 140 pounds for a bantamweight bout with Benito Lopez and then in August, Casey Kenney agreed to change his bantamweight bout with Bermudez to a 140-pound catchweight bout two days before fight night when Bermudez was again having trouble with the scale. Against Rosa, Bermudez was to make his UFC featherweight debut.

For Winn, this is just his second time competing at middleweight after competing in light heavyweight and catchweight bouts for his first five pro bouts.

In other results, former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman (making his 205-pound debut) and Dominick Reyes successfully weighed in for Friday’s light heavyweight main event, as did co-headlining featherweights Yair Rodriguez and Jeremy Stephens, who will be running back their no contest from UFC Mexico City.

UFC on ESPN 6 takes place at TD Garden in Boston on Friday, with the main card airing live on ESPN2.
