Tulane's game-winning drive over Houston had two plays. Both were ridiculous. - ROLL WAVE.

Tulane had quietly been having itself a pretty good season, but the Green Wave announced its newfound relevance in a big way by pulling off an absolutely preposterous 38-31 comeback win over Houston on Thursday night in New Orleans.

That comeback win was capped by my favorite drive of the year, a drive that featured two plays, and two plays only:

• A fake-kneel trick play
• A 53-yard bomb touchdown

(Before I share the clips, I’m gonna dip the old editorial head into the frame here and just come right out and say that I went to Tulane, and I love their sports teams, and if you think that makes me journalistically unfit to share this wonderful drive, well then I advise you to close this article and go eat your cold, dry toast or whatever it is you eat for breakfast.)

Anyway, let’s get to the goodness. The game was 31-31, which was wild considering at one point Houston was leading 28-7. But Tulane had rumbled back, and taken a 3-point lead, before Houston hit a field goal and tied the game up at 31.

After the kickoff, Tulane had the ball at the 29-yard line. They lined up in what appeared to be a kneel-down formation, it sure looked like Tulane head coach Willie Fritz was comfortable with his team heading to overtime.

Then Tulane did this:

Look at this magical play design from Tulane offensive coordinator Will Hall. It’s not enough to catch them sleeping with the fake kneel, he runs a fake kneel, disguised-handoff COUNTER which completely got everyone on Houston lost. I had to rewind the play three times to understand what had happened.

Anyway, that got the ball to the 47-yard line. Then, on the next play, with seconds left, Tulane went and did this.

A 53-yard bomb from Justin McMillan to Jalen McCleskey, and a comeback complete.
