Pirates announcers predict a strikeout, melt down when Cardinals hit a grand slam instead

0 5

I think every baseball fan has played this game:

A player is in a crucial situation, the crowd is on its feet and you say to a buddy, “A home run is coming right here.”

More often than not you’re probably wrong, and on the off chance that you called a home run ahead of time, it’s not a sign of predictive powers. It’s just luck.

But I wouldn’t suggest playing that game as a broadcaster — it can end terribly.

During Sunday’s game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals, Lane Thomas stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and the Cardinals down by three runs. But listen as the Pirates broadcast predicted a strikeout.

We hear, “I see a strike three on a chase.” Followed by this … (Note: It’s the second video)

Seconds after that attempt at predicting an inning-ending strikeout, Thomas instead went yard with a go-ahead grand slam.

The Pirates crew couldn’t believe it. They were livid. The baseball gods didn’t heed to their prediction, opting rather to mock them with a dose of irony.

The Cardinals went on to win the game, 11-9.
