Michael Chiesa to make FS1 analyst debut for UFC Liverpool

After missing out on an opportunity to fight in April, Michael Chiesa has found another way to get some exposure.

The lightweight contender will make his FOX Sports 1 broadcasting debut when he joins Michael Bisping, Jimmy Smith, and Karyn Bryant on the analyst desk this weekend for UFC Liverpool, FOX announced Monday.

Chiesa unexpectedly made headlines in April when his bout at UFC 223 against Anthony Pettis was spoiled by Conor McGregor’s destructive appearance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. McGregor attacked a bus carrying several UFC fighters in an attempt to get at rival Khabib Nurmagomedov, and he shattered a window with a thrown dolly resulting in injuries to Chiesa and Ray Borg. Both fighters were forced to withdraw from their respective bouts, and Chiesa’s meeting with Pettis has been rescheduled for UFC 226 on July 7.

This will be the 30-year-old’s first time working the FS1 desk and his first time providing analysis for a UFC event. Chiesa will take part in the pre-show and the post-fight recap.

Cageside broadcasting duties will be handled by Dan Hardy and Brendan Fitzgerald.

The main card and preliminaries of UFC London air live on FOX Sports 1 this Sunday, from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England, on Sunday. Early prelims begin at 9:30 a.m. ET on the UFC Fight Pass service.
