Major power outage brings much of Spain and Portugal to a standstill

Spain and Portugal were hit by a major power outage on Monday, knocking out subway networks, phone lines, traffic lights and ATM machines across the Iberian Peninsula as the Portuguese Cabinet convened an emergency meeting and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Snchez visitedthe corporation which operates Spain's nationalelectricity grid. No cause was given for the blackout.
