[Softball] Softball Evangels Fall to No. 22 USAO and St. Gregory's in SAC Tournament

Shawnee, Okla. – The Mid-America Christian University Evangels dropped a pair of games today (May 4) at the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament at the Ball Fields at Firelake in Shawnee, Okla. The Evangels lost 8-0 to No. 22-ranked University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers in their first game and then 7-1 to St. Gregory's University.

Jordan Detherage pitched a one-hit shutout for the Drovers and struck out four.

Tate Landmark went four-of-four with two RBIs for USAO and Shania Beck drove in three runs.

Caitlin Butler had the lone hit for MACU, while Morgan Wardlow pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up seven runs with two strikeouts.

The Drovers jumped on top early, scoring three in the first and another run in the third. They then put it away with two runs in both the fourth and sixth innings.

In the second outing, the Evangels again found themselves in a deficit as the Cavaliers plated two runs in the first inning.

After Tiphani Napier singled home Larissa Tate in the bottom of the third to put the Evangels on the board, the Cavaliers broke things open with a four-run fourth inning and then added another tally in the sixth.

Tate contributed a career-high three hits in three at-bats against SGU.

Courtney Anderson started for MACU and lasted four innings with five runs allowed.

Taylor Fowble then came on and pitched the final three innings, striking out two and giving up one run.

Cavaliers' starter Bryn Houlton limited the Evangels to one run, while scattering nine hits and striking out three in her seven innings in the circle.

The Evangels will now wrap up the season tomorrow in their final pool play game of the tourney against Bacone College. First pitch is set for 1 pm in Shawnee, Okla.
