OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University Stars defeated the Mid-America Christian University Evangels twice today (Apr. 28) by scores of 7-0 and 7-3 at Jack Allen Field.

The Stars won the opener behind a combined shutout from Georgia Wall and Abby Meador.

Wall pitched the first four innings with two strikeouts, followed by three shutout frames and three strikeouts from Meador.

The Starts did the bulk of their offensive damage in the third, as a three-run homer by Jaci Smith capped a five-run inning.

Smith was three-for-three overall for OCU in the first game.

Courtney Anderson pitched 5 2/3 innings for the Evangels and allowed six runs. Taylor Fowble then came on for the final 1 1/3 innings and gave up one unearned run.

In the second game, the Stars were powered by a two-run homer from Madison Ellis in the third and then a two-run blast by Kali Pugh in the seventh.

Pugh also doubled home a run in the third for the Stars' first run prior to Ellis' homer.

Brianna Glass had a two-run infield single that scored Mariah Treat and Corrie Moore in the seventh before Larissa Tate plated Caitlin Butler on a groundout in the seventh for the Evangels' third run.

Morgan Wardlow struck out three and gave up five runs in six innings for MACU (16-33, 7-18 SAC).

Pugh went three-for-four for the Stars (57-1, 28-0 SAC).

The Evangels are next scheduled to host No. 23-ranked USAO tomorrow (Apr. 29) at noon, but it is weather permitting as heavy rainfall is expected this weekend.
