[Softball] Softball Splits with Greenville
Mount Pleasant, Iowa – The Tigers hosted a SLIAC double header against Greenville College yesterday afternoon. Iowa Wesleyan was looking to build from the momentum of two wins this past Sunday. They were able to pick up a win 5-4 in the first game of the day after scoring on a wild pitch in the eighth inning, but dropped the second game of the day by a score of 7-2 to the Panthers.
Iowa Wesleyan trailed early in the opening game of the double header. Greenville plated two runs in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead over IW. The lead did not last long, however, as the Tigers would go in front 3-2 in the bottom of the third inning. Caitlin O'Neill (SR/Princeton, IA) hit a leadoff single and Kassie Vazquez (SR/Ainsworth, IA) beat out a bunt to give IW runners on first and second. Jena Miller (JR/Monmouth, IL) singled up the middle to bring in the first run of the inning. Sydnee Stalker (SO/Ottawa, IL) came to the plate and doubled to left field to drive in Vazquez. The final run of the inning came when Jena Miller crossed the plate after Julie Dodd (SO/Rock Falls, IL) grounded out to second base.
