[Softball] Iowa Wesleyan Splits with Principia
Elsah, Illinois – Iowa Wesleyan was finally able to play their games against Principia College yesterday. The weather held off for the Tigers to get in the SLIAC double header. Iowa Wesleyan ended up splitting on the day, dropping the first game 7-2 but bouncing back to take game two 6-2.
IW found themselves in a hole early against the Panthers when Principia took a 3-0 lead at the end of the first inning. The Tigers were able to get a run back in the top of the third inning with the help of three hits and two errors. Caitlin O'Neill (SR/Princeton, IA) singled to start the inning for IW. She advanced on an error by the pitcher. McKenzie Copher (SO/Worth, IL) drove in the first run for the Tigers when she reached base on an error by the short stop. Iowa Wesleyan had an opportunity to add more runs, but they would strand three to end the inning. Principia extended their lead in the bottom of the third. They scored four runs off of four hits and two errors to take a 7-1 lead.
