[Softball] SAGU Slips by Softball Evangels, 2-1

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Southwestern Assemblies of God University Lady Lions recorded a 2-1 win over the Mid-America Christian University Evangels today (Apr. 13) at Jack Allen Field.  The second game was canceled due to heavy rain in the area.

Kristin Stringer hit a solo homer in the second to put the Lady Lions on top before SAGU capitalized on an error to plate another run in the frame.

Katie Gracey then put the Evangels on the scoreboard with a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth for her second homer in her last two games.

The Evangels threatened in the bottom of the sixth with the tying run at third base, but SAGU starter Rachel Ray got a groundout to get out of the inning.

Ray gave up just the one run and struck out three in seven innings for the Lady Lions.

MACU starter Courtney Anderson struck out three and gave up one earned run in seven innings. Anderson also done a great job of keeping the Evangels close by twice escaping tight jams.

Anderson pitched around runners on second and third with one out in the first inning and then got a double-play to help wiggle out of a first and second with no outs situation in the third.

Gracey was two-of-three for the Evangels (12-29, 3-14 SAC), while the Lady Lions (13-26, 5-12 SAC) also got two hits from Stringer and Destinee Vindiola.

Weather permitting, the Evangels are next scheduled to host Texas Wesleyan University tomorrow (Apr. 14) at 11 am.
