[Softball] RedStorm starts slow, but sweeps Shawnee

    WEST PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - A day that began with a non-existent offense ended with a mercy rule-shortened victory and another doubleheader sweep.
    The University of Rio Grande held off rival Shawnee State University, 5-3, in game one before rolling to a 14-2 rout of the Bears in game two, Tuesday afternoon, in non-conference softball action at Boone Coleman Field.
    The RedStorm, ranked No. 22 in the latest NAIA coaches' poll, improved to 34-6 and extended their school-record winning streak to 23 straight games.
    Shawnee State, which was playing its final home games of the season, slipped to 23-18 with the two losses.
