Asian Games Aichi Nagoya highlights Softball Asia 2026 calendar
The Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 will headline the Softball Asia competition calendar for the year, which also includes three WBSC World Cup Asia Qualifiers across different disciplines and the Asian Universities Women’s Softball Asia Cup.
Following the conclusion of its General Congress last week, Softball Asia officially announced its 2026 events calendar, confirming a packed year of continental and international competition.
Three World Cup Asia Qualifiers scheduled
Baseball5 Asia Cup
From 27 to 31 March, D·PARK Mall in Tsuen Wan, New Territories, Hong Kong, China, will host the third edition of the Baseball5 Asia Cup.
The tournament will award three qualification spots for the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Puerto Rico from 9 to 13 December 2026.
U-15 Women’s Softball Asia Cup
The U-15 Women’s Softball Asia Cup will be played at the Weihai Sports Complex in Shuangdao Bay, China, from 12 to 18 October.
The tournament will qualify two teams for the WBSC U-15 Women’s Softball World Cup 2027.
U-18 Men’s Softball Asia Cup
Men’s softball will also feature prominently in 2026, with the U-18 Men’s Softball Asia Cup taking place at The Villages at Clark City in Pampanga, Philippines.
Teams will compete for two qualification spots for the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027.
Asian Games 2026
The Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, which also include men’s baseball in the medal programme, will be staged in Japan from 19 September to 4 October.
Women’s softball will be contested at the Anjo Softball Ground from 26 September to 3 October, beginning 10 days after the conclusion of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group in Oklahoma City, which will close the Group Stage of the World Cup.
No. 1 Japan, No. 5 Chinese Taipei, No. 8 China, No. 13 Philippines, No. 22 Singapore, No. 31 Korea, No. 32 Hong Kong, China, and No. 44 Thailand have qualified for the women's softball competition at the continental multi-sports event.
Asian Universities Women Softball Asia Cup
Softball Asia will also organise the 5th Asian Universities Women’s Softball Asia Cup, scheduled to take place in Puli, Nantou County, Chinese Taipei. The tournament will be played at the Fu-Shing Softball Stadium and National Chi Nan University Softball Field, running from 25 to 30 October.
The six-day competition is reserved for student-athletes aged 18 to 28.
