Softball Australia Cup schedule announced in Brisbane

Softball Australia unveiled the 13-game schedule for the Softball Australia Cup. Scheduled from 29 January to 1 February at Downey Park in Brisbane, the international women's softball event will feature No. 1 Japan, No. 11 Australia and No. 23 New Zealand.

With three games a day, the double round robin will be played across the four competition days, with the top two teams in the standings playing the final on February 1 at 18:30. You can see the full schedule here.

Softball Australia CEO Sarah Loh said the series will play an important role in strengthening their national program. “This event gives our athletes meaningful competition and gives fans another great chance to see the next generation of Aussie Spirit talent in action. We invite the community to show their support across the four-day series, as our last international event of the summer,” she said.

Fans will be able to enjoy a range of community and engagement activities, including a junior softball skills clinic hosted by the Aussie Spirit on Wednesday 28 January, photo and autograph opportunities with all teams, and the release of limited‑edition merchandise available both onsite and online.

Softball Australia has announced the team selected for the 2026 Softball Australia Cup, with four athletes in line to make their senior international debuts as the programme continues to build depth ahead of the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027. Softball Australia said the new additions earnt their selection following strong performances across international games and the Gilley’s Shield Open Women’s National Championship and their inclusion signals the strength of the national pathway and the growing pool of athletes pushing for senior opportunities.

Tokyo 2020 Olympian Taylah Tsitsikronis also returns to the national line‑up, earning selection in her first Australian team since the Australia v China series in December 2024, following the birth of her child in August 2025.

Head Coach Kerrie Porter said the group represents an exciting blend of experience and new energy.

“The Softball Australia Cup is a critical part of our preparation for the World Cup cycle, building to the Group Stage in Prague this June," Porter stated. "These five athletes have earned their opportunity through consistency, resilience, and a willingness to take their game to the next level. We’re looking forward to seeing how they respond to the international stage.”
