University National Softball Championships conclude in South Africa
The University National Softball Championships wrapped up at Hoërskool Oos-Moot in Pretoria with the finals of the women’s and men’s competitions.
In the Women’s Division, Vaal University of Technology (VUT) defeated the University of Fort Hare (UFH), 6–0, to advance to the Final. In the decisive game, Varsity College (VC) captured the title with a 5–2 victory over VUT.
In the Men’s Division, Varsity College opened the playoffs with a 7–4 win against Tshwane University of Technology, securing their spot in the final. However, they were unable to overcome the Vaal University of Technology side, who claimed the championship with a dominant 8–0 performance. It marked VUT’s third consecutive title in the competition.
Organised by University Sport South Africa (USSA) and sanctioned by Softball South Africa, the University National Softball Championships took place from 3 to 6 December at Varsity College. The tournament is one of 34 events hosted across the 2025 USSA calendar.
