Bonn Capitals win German Softball Championship 2025
The Bonn Capitals have won the German Softball Championship 2025. They defeated the Stuttgart Reds 2-0 in the best-of-three final series this past weekend.
For Bonn its their second title in club history after 2022. Stuttgart, which is hosting the Women’s Softball European Championship in 2027, reached the final series for the first time ever.
It was a contested final series between the two power houses in the Softball-Bundesliga in 2025 but the Capitals prevailed with a clean sweep on their home soil, winning the finals 11-9 and 5-2.
Bonn had reached the finals after advancing past the Tubingen Hawks and Cologne Cardinals in the quarter and semifinals. The Reds prevailed over the Neunkirchen Nightmares and Guggenberger Legionaere Regensburg on their way to the championship series.
During the closing ceremony Lee Lankhorst was named MVP of the final series, while Claire Rayley received best batter and Savannah Henkey best pitcher honors.
In the regular season the Capitals had dominated the northern division with a 27-1 record ahead of dethroned champion Wesseling Vermins (25-3). In the southern division Stuttgart held first place with a 23-1 record leading the standings over the Freising Grizzlies (14-10). However both Freising and Wesseling were then eliminated in the quarterfinals.
