The Moletlane Texas Softball Club made history at the inaugural National Softball Club Championships in South Africa, sweeping both the men’s and women’s competitions. The tournament was staged at the Red Sox Diamonds in Kempton Park and featured a total of nine teams - five in the men’s event and four in the women’s.

In the men’s competition, Texas battled through Sunday’s playoffs to secure the crown. In the semifinals, the Limpopo side defeated the Lebowakgomo Wild Beasts, 10-2, to book a spot in the final. They then defeated the Tribe Hawks, 11-4, to clinch the championship. The men’s draw also included the Nyakallong Spartans and the Sasol Yankees.

"At Texas we pride ourselves with the level of depth in the team. We have highly experienced senior players who will contribute immensely yet aided by the competitive rising stars who are eager to raise the bar at this big stage,” Texas head coach Thapelo Seshoka said before the competition.

On the women’s side, Texas completed the sweep with an 8-4 victory over the Valhalla Viqueens Baseball and Softball Club in the title game. Both finalists had advanced after finishing top of the round-robin standings. The Eastern Cape Titans and the Moletjie Cheetahs also competed in the women’s tournament.

South Africa currently ranks No. 14 in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Ranking with 389 points, and No. 38 in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Ranking with 200 points.
