The World Games 2025 Women's Softball: Key clashes set to shape semifinal race
Welcome to Day 2 of The World Games 2025 Women's Softball competition at the Xindu Better City Softball Arena in Chengdu, China. Today’s four games will be critical for all eight teams in their quest to qualify for Saturday’s semifinals.

In Group A, the two winners from yesterday’s games — No. 2 USA and No. 6 Netherlands — will face off at 10 a.m. (all times local) in a clash that could determine first place in the group. Meanwhile, No. 5 Chinese Taipei and No. 10 China look to bounce back from yesterday’s losses to stay in contention for one of the top two spots. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
In Group B, No. 4 Canada and No. 8 Australia will meet at 10 a.m. Canada outlasted Puerto Rico yesterday in a high-scoring battle, while Australia fell to Japan on Opening Day. At 1 p.m., No. 1 Japan and No. 3 Puerto Rico will take the field for a marquee matchup on Field 2.

The two historic rivals will play Game 4 of the competition. Coming off a big win against Puerto Rico, Canada will look to put itself in a strong position to qualify for the semifinals in Group B. On Field 2, two of the world’s top three ranked teams will square off. Defending world champions Japan defeated Australia yesterday, while Puerto Rico fell to Canada in a high-scoring slugfest, despite putting nine runs on the board.
