Media accreditation open for WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Finals in Oklahoma City
Media registration is open for the WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Finals 2025 to be played in Oklahoma City, USA, from 27 September to 1 October. The deadline for registration is 20 September.
All members of the media, both local/national and international, who plan to cover the WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup Finals must apply for accreditation through the official WBSC Media Accreditation online platform at https://my.wbsc.org.
The accreditation procedure starts by clicking on MEDIA ACCREDITATIONS. The online request form needs to be completed, also including a headshot.
Once the request is submitted, media members will receive an automated email confirmation that their application has been received. Those media intending to cover the event remotely should contact the WBSC Media Department by writing to media@wbsc.org.
Another automated message will indicate a "change of status" in the accreditation request.
Media members can check their request status after the registration deadline, 20 September, by accessing my.wbsc.org and clicking SEARCH FOR YOUR ACCREDITATION on the top right of the page. They will then need to enter their name, last name and email address.
A pre-tournament press conference will be scheduled. Details will follow at a later stage.
GUIDELINES FOR NON-RIGHTS HOLDING (“NRH”) MEDIA
- Only rights holders of applicable games may transmit game footage (audio and/or video) of WBSC events.
- NRH media credentials provide access to official training sessions, games, and Opening/Closing Ceremonies.
- Specific categories will grant credentials (i.e., Press, Photographer, Radio and TV, Team Media), and stadium access will be given accordingly.
- Photographers, NRH TV crews, and Team Media will be required to wear WBSC-issued media vests.
THE EVENT
The WBSC U-18 Women's Softball World Cup is the first to be played under the two-stage system. Last year, Sao Paulo, Brazil; Pingtan, China; and Dallas, USA hosted groups A, B and C respectivelly.
World No. 4 Chinese Taipei and No. 8 Czechia advanced out from Group A; No. 2 Japan and No. 12 China earned their ticket in Group B; while No. 1 USA and No. 6 Canada grabbed the two berths in Group C. No. 3 Puerto Rico and No. 9 Mexico were awarded a wild card (as the best third-place finishers) to participate in the Finals.
The teams have been split into two groups for the opening stage of the tournament:
- Group A: Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, USA
- Group B: Czechia, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico
The Opening Round is scheduled on 27 and 28 September. The top two teams from each group will play the Super Round on 29 and 30 September, with the World Championship Game scheduled on 1 October (October 2 serves as a rain day). Full schedule here.
A total of 22 games have been scheduled at Devon Park, official venue for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games softball competition.
