David Haffner re-elected as Gambia National Softball Association President
David Haffner has been re-elected President of the Gambia National Softball Association for the next four years. The election took place during the annual general meeting and elective congress held on 24 May at the Gambia National Olympic Committee building in Bakau.
World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Vice President and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member Beatrice Allen was named Honorary President.
The new Executive Board is as follows:
- David Haffner, President.
- Ronald Williams, Vice-President 1.
- Bakary Touray, Vice-President 2.
- Zahra Njie, Secretary General.
- Bai. Modou Cham, Tresurer.
The Training Committee is formed by Ebrima Tiyan and John Bamidele.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were Ebrima Secka, Program Manager at the National Sports Council (NSC); Sara Camara, Communications and PR Manager at NSC; and Bai Dodou Jallow, President of the GNOC.
According to local media, Haffner has stressed that his association is aiming to represent the country at the international stage even though there is very young sporting activity in the country. He also outlined plans to expand grassroots participation and enhance national competitions.
