Venezuela announce roster for Men's Softball World Cup Finals; Pimentel to lead pitching staff
Flamethrower Maiker Pimentel will headline Venezuela’s pitching staff at the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals 2025. Veteran head coach Ramon Lopez has announced the 16-player roster for the event, set to take place in Prince Albert, Canada from 8-13 July. A total of 10 players return from the squad that secured a Finals berth at last year’s Group A tournament.
Pimentel delivered a stellar performance in Group A, finishing with a 0.72 ERA across six appearances. He struck out 48 batters over 29 innings, posting a 0.83 WHIP. This marks his third World Cup appearance, having previously represented Venezuela in 2017 and 2019. Across his World Cup career, Pimentel owns a 1.82 ERA with 81 strikeouts in 50 innings of work.

Adames, Colombo, Dorantes, Flores, Galeno, Herrera, Pimentel, Pinto, Sequera, and Toyo are back from the team that finished third in Group A in Hermosillo, Mexico, earning one of two wild card spots for the Finals.
Venezuela will compete in Group A of the Opening Round from 8 to 10 July, facing off against continental rivals Argentina and Canada, as well as perennial powerhouse New Zealand.
Aiming for a return to the podium a decade after their last medal, Venezuela will look to add to their World Cup legacy, having claimed silver in 2013 and bronze in 2015.
