Australia unveil official roster for The World Games 2025 men's softball competition in Chengdu
Softball Australia announced the selection of the Australian Men’s National Softball Team – the Aussie Steelers – for The World Games 2025, to be held in Chengdu, China, from 6 to 10 August 2025.
Steelers Head Coach Mike Titheradge is excited by the opportunity for the 2022 WBSC reigning world champions to debut at the World Games. “I’m incredibly proud to lead our team into our debut appearance at the World Games. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase the Steelers brand on a global stage and continue building our legacy.
"Our focus for this campaign is on developing the next generation of Aussie Steelers. By giving our young and talented athletes the chance to compete at a major international event, we’re investing in the future of our program and setting the foundation for long-term success,” says Titheradge.
The World Games is a globally recognised multi-sport event showcasing sports that are not currently included in the Olympic Games. Organised by the International World Games Association under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee, the event represents one of the highest levels of international competition for men’s softball. It provides athletes with a rare opportunity to compete on a major multi-sport stage, among the best teams and athletes from around the world.
With the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals (8–14 July in Prince Albert, Canada) and The World Games scheduled just weeks apart, the dual-events structure has allowed selectors to broaden the talent pool, reward form, and provide valuable international exposure to a wider group of athletes.

Seven players from Australia will play both the World Cup and The World Games, including Beashel, Beckett, Garland, James, King, Molander and Wickham. The biggest abscence in Chengdu will be Australia's ace Jack Besgrove, who is not part of the team.
World No. 2 Australia will compete in Group B, along with No. 4 Canada; No. 6 USA and No. 13 Singapore. The Aussie Steelers begin their 2025 World Games campaign on August 6, where they will face Singapore.
