Australia Women's National Softball Team to tour Japan in preparation for The World Games 2025
Softball Australia has announced its roster to travel to Ota City, Japan, from 28 June to 6 July 2025 in preparation for The World Games women's softball competition. Led by Head Coach Kerrie Porter, the tour will feature a 22-athlete squad, comprising a blend of experienced players and emerging talent, reflecting both the depth of the current group and the future direction of the national programme.
"The Japan tour to Ota City is a tremendous opportunity for the Spirit squad to compete against high-quality professional JD League teams. The games and training will provide athletes and staff opportunities to be challenged, develop, learn, and grow in preparation for The World Games to be held in China in August," says Porter.
The World Games 2025 Chengdu in China, take place from 13–17 August with Australia starting the tournament playing against Japan, Canada, and Puerto Rico in Group B over the first three days of competition for two spots in the semifinals.
Softball Australia also indicated that The World Games will offer valuable international experience and play a pivotal role in the squad’s long-term Olympic qualification campaign ahead of LA28.
