Monteria, Colombia to host Women's Softball Pan American Championship as 15 teams compete for five World Cup spots
WBSC Americas Softball has announced the 15 national teams set to compete in the upcoming Women’s Softball Pan American Championship, a qualifying event for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2026/2027. The tournament will take place in Monteria, Colombia, from 27 June to 5 July.
The participating teams are: World No. 3 Puerto Rico, No. 6 Canada, No. 9 Mexico, No. 16 Peru, No. 17 Cuba, No. 20 Venezuela, No. 27 Brazil, No. 31 Colombia, No. 32 Argentina, No. 35 Dominican Republic, No. 37 Guatemala, No. 47 El Salvador, No. 52 Chile, No. 58 US Virgin Islands, and No. 63 Aruba.
The top five teams in the final standings will qualify for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage 2026, which will begin in Lima (PER), Oklahoma City (USA), and Prague (CZE). Additionally, the tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima (PER) and the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo (DOM).
To begin the competition, the 15 teams have been allocated into three groups:
- Group A: Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia and Peru
- Group B: Brazil, Cuba, Dominican Republic, US Virgin Islands and Mexico
- Group C: Aruba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Puerto Rico and Venezuela
According to local media, José Gabriel Amín Manzur Stadium - the main venue for the continental tournament - has undergone major renovations in preparation for the event. Upgrades include improvements to the playing field, lighting system, dugouts, and locker rooms, as well as enhancements for fans and media such as new restrooms, a dedicated media area, and an expanded parking lot.
This marks the second Pan American softball championship hosted in Monteria, following the U-18 women’s tournament held in 2024.
