AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas junior catcher Reese Atwood repeated as a Softball America first-team All-American while two other Longhorns made the cut for the second team.

The publication announced its picks Tuesday, with Atwood again named its top catcher in the country. Senior Mia Scott and sophomore Teagan Kavan were named second-team selections, Scott as a third baseman and Kavan as a pitcher.

Atwood, last year's Softball America national player of the year, is having another stellar season. With a .429 batting average and .908 slugging percentage, she's crushed 20 home runs and driven in 84 runs, six shy of her program record she set last season. She's the first Longhorn to have back-to-back 20-homer seasons, smacking 23 last year.

Scott set the program record with 56 career doubles and collected her 300th career hit during the NCAA Austin regional. She's hitting .442 with a .500 on-base percentage and seven home runs. She's struck out just seven times in 163 at-bats this season.

Kavan has racked up 23 pitching wins with a 2.48 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 161 innings. She's struck out 200 batters with 43 walks, and opponents are hitting .216 against her.

Arkansas first baseman Bri Ellis is the player of the year and Tennessee's Karlyn Pickens is the pitcher of the year.

The Longhorns (49-10, 16-8 SEC) begin super regional play at 8 p.m. Thursday against Clemson in Austin.
