World Baseball Softball Day: Baseball5 Tierra holds clinic for Physical Education students in Chile

The Baseball5 Tierra programme celebrated World Baseball Softball Day with a Baseball5 Clinic at the Campus Joaquín Cabezas in the Physical Education, Sports and Recreation Department (DEFDER, Departamento de Educación Física, Deportes y Recreación) of the Metropolitan University of Science and Education (UMCE, Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación) in Santiago, Chile. The San Jóse de Ñuñoa club, the Chilean Baseball Minor League, the Baseball5 Cuba team, the technical head of Baseball5 in Cuba, Eros Bernal, and WBSC Baseball5 World Cup winner Orland Amador cooperated with the initiative.

The DEFDER students participated in a class on the rules and the history of Baseball5. Then they moved to the field for a practical session about conditioning, fundamentals and how to organise a practice session.

"Change may seem difficult, thus we have to start trying to change ourselves first," commented Professor Gonzalo Zapata Vera, the DEFDER Director. "We are very happy to include Baseball5 in our curricular activity."

"Baseball5 is a tool of integration," added Jesus David Villaroel, the Baseball5 Tierra coordinator. "We have here immigrant citizens serving as instructors and teachers to introduce this discipline to Chilean students."
