Louisiana begins play in SBC softball championship tournament on Thursday
LAFAYETTE,La (KLFY) -- The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball team is scheduled to begin play in the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship Tournament on Thursday, May 8 at 10:00 a.m. at the Troy Softball Complex in Troy, Alabama.
The SBC Championship Tournament runs from Wednesday-Saturday, May 7-10 on the campus of Troy University with 10 teams competing in the single-elimination event.
Louisiana (28-24, 14-10 SBC) elevated itself to the No. 3 seed in the tournament after winning nine of the last 10 conference games to close the regular season, earning a bye from opening day action on Wednesday (May 8).
The Ragin’ Cajuns are matched up with No. 6 seed App State (23-26, 13-11 SBC) on Thursday (May 8) in the 10:00 a.m. quarterfinal round contest. UL and App State are meeting in the SBC’s postseason event for the first time.
The other half of Louisiana's side of the bracket includes No. 2 seed Marshall (31-22, 15-9 SBC) which will meet either No. 7 seed Coastal Carolina (37-17, 13-11 SBC) or No. 10 seed Southern Miss (23-28, 10-13 SBC) in the quarterfinal round.
Live television coverage of the tournament through the semifinals is available on ESPN+, while the championship game is set to air on ESPN2 at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. Fans can also hear all of the Ragin' Cajuns contests on The Goat 103.3 FM and 1420 AM in the Acadiana region and worldwide on The Varsity Network.
Tickets can be purchased through TroyTrojans.com/Tickets. All-session tickets can be purchased for $40 for adults and $20 for youths 12 and under. Tickets for individual days are $15 for adults and $10 for youths. Additional fees may apply.
Louisiana has claimed the SBC Championship Tournament title 18 times in the 24-year history of the event, last claiming the championship in 2023 at Lamson Park. The Ragin' Cajuns sport an all-time record of 74-10 (.881) in tournament.
It’s the fifth time that Troy hosts the tournament, the Cajuns previously winning the title at the Troy Softball Complex in 2008, 2017 and 2021.
