One Week To Go: World Baseball Softball Day - A Moment to Celebrate the Past, Present and Future of our Global Game

Today marks one week until World Baseball Softball Day, a global celebration of the history and future of our sport. Fans, athletes, coaches, and organizations around the world will unite to honour the legends of the past, celebrate today’s stars, and reflect on the milestones that have made baseball/softball a truly global movement.

This year’s celebration, taking place on Saturday, 10 May 2025, marks the second edition of World Baseball Softball Day. The date commemorates the anniversary of the inaugural WBSC Congress, held in Hammamet, Tunisia, where Riccardo Fraccari was elected as the first WBSC President.

We invite all fans, WBSC National Federations, and Members to join us on 10 May by playing or engaging with any of the WBSC disciplines — Baseball, Softball, Baseball5, or eSport — and sharing their activities on social media to showcase the global reach of our sport.

10-year anniversary

Last year, the global baseball and softball community came together on 10 May to express their love and passion for the game during the first-ever World Baseball Softball Day. “It’s a day to celebrate our sport and all that we have achieved as one united team. A day to not only reflect on our successes but look forward to the bright future that the WBSC has,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari on that occasion.

As part of last year’s celebration, the WBSC hosted a gala reception at The Olympic Museum, where President Fraccari highlighted the key milestones from the WBSC’s first 10 years. During the event, the WBSC premiered "#PlayEverywhere", a documentary chronicling the origins and growth of Baseball5, the WBSC’s dynamic new urban discipline.
