ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga Softball team held on to beat Colonie 14-9 on Thursday in the first meeting between the two squads since the Blue Streaks beat the Wolf Pack in the Section 2 playoffs a season ago.

After 2 scoreless innings, each offense found a rhythm in the third inning, with Saratoga cracking the scoreboard with a pair of RBI singles from Ava Taber and Emily Ruscio before Colonie responded with a 2-RBI single from Sydney Cataldo in the bottom half of the inning. The Wolf Pack would add another run in the third on an error.

Saratoga would take the lead right back in the fourth when Nia Law sent a fly ball over the wall in left field for a 3-run home run. Ava Goodman would drive in another run for the Blue Streaks on a sacrifice fly to push lead to 6-3.

The sides would trade runs back and forth over the next 2.5 innings, as Colonie would out score Saratoga in that stretch by a run to bring the score to 9-7 going into the final frame. Law would put the game out of reach with a Grand Slam in the top of the seventh.

Law led Saratoga to the win, going 3-4 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI in the contest. The Blue Streaks return to action on Saturday when they face Jamesville-DeWitt of Section 3.
