World Baseball Softball Day: One month to go!

The second World Baseball Softball Day is just around the corner! On Saturday, 10 May 2025, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) will once again unite players, fans and communities across the globe for a special day dedicated to the sport’s incredible journey and bright future ahead.

One year ago, on Friday, 10 May, 2024, the WBSC celebrated its 10th anniversary as the international governing body for Baseball/Softball. The day marks the inaugural WBSC Congress, where Riccardo Fraccari was elected as the first president in Hammamet, Tunisia. This completed a successful merger between the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and the International Softball Federation (ISF), which began with a historic announcement at the IBAF Congress in Tokyo in April 2013.

"Over the last 10 years, we have witnessed an incredible journey filled with many milestones and achievements," commented President Fraccari on the first World Baseball Softball Day. "At the heart of this journey has been the spirit of teamwork. It has formed the foundation upon which we have worked to build and grow our sport worldwide."

And what a journey it has been. Among the WBSC’s standout achievements is the successful Olympic campaigns that brought baseball/softball to the Tokyo 2020 and Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games programmes. But the success stories do not end there. The WBSC also launched the Premier12, the organisation's flagship event, which celebrated its third edition in November 2024, alongside the first-ever ePremier12.

The inaugural World Baseball Softball Day was a global movement. The WBSC launched a social media campaign, rallying the global baseball/softball community to celebrate together.

In a standout moment, the Bhutan Baseball & Softball Association won a US$10,000 equipment grant for their unforgettable activation, themed Happiness Hits Home. Their campaign highlighted the impact of baseball and softball in uniting communities and spreading joy across the nation.

Adding to the festivities, the WBSC also premiered #PlayEverywhere on World Baseball Softball Day 2024, a powerful 22-minute film highlighting the journey of Baseball5, the WBSC’s urban, dynamic and mixed-gender discipline.

With just a month to go until the second World Baseball Softball Day, excitement is building once again. Whether on the field, online or in communities large and small, the global baseball softball community is ready to celebrate.
