The World Games 2025 Chengdu: Softball venue nears completion
The World Games (TWG) 2025 Chengdu has announced that the softball venue is nearing the final stages of development and is expected to be ready for final inspection in June. The Xindu Better City Softball Arena will host 40 matches across men's and women's events, with two gold medals to be awarded during TWG 2025.
The venue is located in Xingcheng International Football Sports Park in Xindu District, approximately 75 kilometres from the TWG Village. The facility will feature two competition fields, four warm-up fields and a temporary stand accommodating one thousand spectators.
During TWG 2025 Chengdu, the men's softball events will take place from 6 to 10 August 2025, with No. 1 Argentina; No. 2 Australia; No. 3 Japan; No. 4 Canada; No. 5 Venezuela, No. 6 USA, No. 7 Czechia and No. 13 Singapore battling for the gold medal.
The women's event, scheduled from 13 to 17 August, will feature top-ranked USA; No. 2 Japan; No. 3 Puerto Rico; No. 4 Chinese Taipei; No. 5 Netherlands; No. 6 Canada; No. 10 Australia and No. 12 China. Both tournaments will feature a group stage, playoffs, and finals.
The renovations will upgrade the existing 2,300 square metres of functional rooms, ensuring they meet the high standards required for international competitions and public use. This venue is the sole location for softball events at TWG 2025 and one of the best-equipped facilities in Sichuan Province to meet international competition standards.
Xindu District now boasts three TWG 2025 venues: the Chengdu Roller Sports Centre, the floorball venue and the softball venue.
