New York Yankees host Bhutan Baseball & Softball Federation

The New York Yankees hosted the Bhutan Baseball & Softball Association (BBSA) for afternoon activities at Yankee Stadium. Yankees captain Aaron Judge spent time connecting with 12 Bhutan players and gifted them a signed jersey and signed baseballs.

The Asian delegation attended the game between the Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday, 21 August. Judge homered twice and led the Yankees to the win.

Judge, 32, holds the all-time American League home run record. He hit 62 (in 157 games) in 2022. He has 51 in 129 2024 games and is on pace to update his record.

The visit to Yankee Stadium by the BBSA, who won the World Baseball Softball Day equipment grant prize in May for their promotion of baseball and softball, is part of a six-day trip to New York City and Dutchess County by the federation organized by the Yankees Triple-A affiliate Hudson Valley Renegades.

Hudson Valley General Manager Zach Betkowski learned about baseball in Bhutan and met BBSA's co-founders, Matthew DeSantis and Karma Dorji.

The Renegades offered the Bhutan players a baseball clinic. On Tuesday, 20 August, they wore special Bhutan-themed jerseys in their game against the Wilmington Blue Rocks. The jerseys were auctioned, and the proceeds will go to baseball development in Bhutan.
