Batavia Muckdogs to host 'Battle of the Badges' charity softball game

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Batavia Muckdogs organization will host its fourth annual 'Battle of the Badges' softball game for charity, between the Batavia Fire Department and the Batavia Police Department, on Aug. 25 at Dwyer Stadium.

This year's game will benefit Batavia Youth Baseball, with doors at 4 p.m. and first pitch at 5. The event has been a tradition since CAN-USA took over Dwyer Stadium, and Muckdogs GM Marc Witt said the organization is thrilled to host the event.

All youth baseball and softball players will receive free entry to the game.

“It felt very fitting to have our city’s local youth baseball organization benefit from this charity game," detective James DeFreze said. "We know how important youth sports are to shaping adolescence in our community.”

Currently, the fire department holds a 2-1 record over the police department, who won last year's exhibition.

Tickets to the game cost $10 in advance or $12 at the gate. Advance tickets can be purchased at this link. The game is still accepting sponsorships from local businesses and organizations, as well, and those interested should email Marc Witt at mwitt.canusa@gmail.com.
