NY Gremlins Prevail in 8-1 Victory Over STK Fastball in Chiefs’ Challenge at Simcoe ON
On a sunny Saturday afternoon, June 22, 2024, fans were treated to a display of softball prowess as the NY Gremlins faced off against STK Fastball 18O. The game, which took place at Lions Field in Simcoe Ontario Canada, showcased the strength and skill of the NY team, resulting in a commanding 8-1 victory.
From the first inning, the Gremlins set the tone, scoring two runs and never looking back. Their offense was on full display throughout the game, with consistent scoring in the first, second, fourth, and sixth innings. The STK Fastball team, despite their best efforts, struggled to keep up with the Gremlins’ assault.
Leading the charge for the Gremlins was Lucio Retamar, who had an outstanding day at the plate. Retamar went 2-for-3, driving in an impressive 4 RBIs and scoring 2 runs himself. Another standout in the game was Erick Ochoa, contributing 2 hits and 2 RBIs to the team’s cause. The Gremlins’ offense was further bolstered by Tane Mumu, who crossed home plate three times, and Brian Abrey, who added two hits including a double.
Defensively, the star of the day was undoubtedly the Gremlins’ pitcher, Pablo Migliavacca. Throwing a complete game, Migliavacca was nearly untouchable on the mound. Over six innings, he allowed just two hits and one run while striking out 11 batters. This dominant performance kept the STK Fastball batters off-balance throughout the game, with only S Silvas managing to break through with a solo home run.
On the other side, STK Fastball 18O had a tough day both offensively and defensively. Their pitchers, N Patrick and S Normand, had to contend with the hot Gremlins’ bats, giving up a combined 9 hits and 8 runs. The team’s defense committed two errors that contributed to the loss.
The bright spot for STK Fastball was Silvas’ home run, which prevented a shutout and gave their fans something to cheer about. B Larson also managed to get a hit, but overall, the team’s offense was stifled by Migliavacca’s stellar pitching.
