Salem softball secures second straight Class D section title, downing Fort Ann 10-3

MOREAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Salem took down Fort Ann 10-3 in Thursday night's Class D sectional championship game. The Generals got out to an early lead, scoring six runs in the second inning to go ahead 7-1, and never looked back.
Salem got the scoring started in the first inning with a Sophia Keays RBI double. Fort Ann followed that up in the top half of the second with a run-scoring double from Maddie Freebern to tie the game at one.
Fort Ann later plated two more runs in the third, but Salems' second-inning offensive outburst proved to be too much to overcome.
Salem advances to the regional round of the state tournament.
