Berne-Knox-Westerlo softball wins first-ever section title

MOREAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- For the first time in program history, Berne-Knox-Westerlo softball has won a section championship. After nine innings of action, the second-seeded Bulldogs prevailed over Hoosick Falls in Thursday's Class C final with a walk-off hit from Natalie Elble.

"Obviously, runs were coming at a premium; it was the ninth inning and nobody had scored yet," said head coach Jeff Muller. "It took nine innings to get to that point...and we finally broke through. They went through the ups and downs in this game and came out on top."

As a result of the win, the Bulldogs have punched their ticket to the sub-regional round of the state tournament.
